Van Don is a coastal suburban district in Quảng Ninh Province, where attracting tourists for a long time. A mix of breathtaking scenery, white sand beaches as well as its romantic view, hence, it is chosen as a favourite destination for loving couples.

Ha Long Bay has been twice recognised as a World Natural Heritage site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). The Heritage site has become a magnet drawing visitors to Quang Ninh. The Province is expanding the space for sea and island tourism farther from Ha Long Bay towards islands such as Co To, Van Don and Hai Ha.

Should guests want a more adventurous trip to Co To island is recommended. Filled with natural beauty and very few traces of man-made objects Co To island is a great destination to connect to nature. Another noted place is Cua Ong Temple in Hon Gai, which worship Tran Quoc Tuan’s son: Tran Quoc Tang who is considered as the god of all Quang Ninh people.

There are some commonly visited  caves as Thien Cung (Heavenly Palace) cave, Dau Go (Wood Tip) grotto, Sung Sot (Surprise) cave and Trinh Nu (Virgin) grotto. The most popular activity in Halong Bay is taking a cruise around the Bay to see the splendor of the geography followed by swimming, kayaking, hiking, etc.

The best time to visit

Quang Ninh weather is divided into two seasons: a hot and rainy summer; a cold winter. Winter starts from early November to late March next year, and summer occurs from April and to late October. Traveling in each season will have its own distinctive features. However, the most appropriate time is summer from April to October, you can participate in many interesting activities.

In addition, you can attend many irresistible traditional festivals marking local custom, national heroic events kept until today such as Carnaval festival in April, Cherry Blossom festival from Japan, Yen Tu festival starting from January 10th until late March (lunar calendar), Cua Ong festival from January 2 to March 30 (lunar month), Bach Dang festival on March 8 (lunar calendar).

Hạ Long Bay (Vịnh Hạ Long)
Needless to say, Hạ Long Bay has been so popular that it is always the first destination that one can ever think of when deciding to take a trip to Quảng Ninh Province. Yên Tử Mountain (Núi Yên Tử)
Also known as Yên Tử Sơn in Chinese calling, Yên Tử Mountain is regarded as the ancestral land of Vietnamese Buddhism. Back in the day, Yên Tử was also called Bạch Vân Sơn (White Cloud Mountain) for the beautiful cloud coverage around the mount with the height of 1068 meters. Yên Tử is a true challenge to any climber since it will take approximately 6 hours to continuously climb to the mount, and cross all the stone stairs and forests.

Cô Tô Island (Đảo Cô Tô)
Enchanting and ecological, Cô Tô is one of the most beautiful islands in Quảng Ninh. It has even been written in many literature pieces of famous authors and even been chosen as the title of some. Typically, there is “Cô Tô” of the most famous and the greatest modern author of all-Nguyễn Tuân written about his long-day experience on Cô Tô Island.

Quan Lạn Island (Đảo Quan Lạn)
Quan Lạn is a beautiful island in Quảng Ninh, famous for its gorgeous wilderness and peaceful natural beauties. The island is particularly a place for photography. Especially in wedding season, It is always chosen as the stop of couples for its own romantic scenery.

Must-tasted food

Grilled Chopped Cuttle-Fish (Chả Mực) Cha Muc is the most famous food of Quang Ninh and also in the top 50 specialties of Vietnam. The main ingredient of Cha Muc, of course, is squid. However, according to local fishermen, the high quality dishes must use squid from the Halong area.

Quảng Yên Crustacean (Sam Quảng Yên) the meat of Sam can be processed into a lot of different foods, such as pudding crab, crab salad, sweet and sour crab legs, crab sauté with peppers and lemongrass, fried eggs and crab, steamed crabs, fried crab, fried crab’s cartilage, stir-fried crab and glass noodle.

Sipunculus Nudus (Sá Sùng) this is listed as one of the most expensive dishes of the region and of course, there must be something that gives it that high price. The taste, indeed, is much more delicious than its appearance. The common dish is fresh sipunculus nudus fried with garlic. Garlic is just the right spice that stimulates the sweetness of the meat.

“Nodding” Cake (Bánh Gật Gù) is actually another kind of ravioli but made slightly different. When cooking, the cook will usually add extra rice to the cake to make it thicker and juicier. When eating, all you have to do is dipping the roll in a small bowl of sauce specially made and eaten with pork cooked with brine.
