Using the guise of the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority and announcing canceled flights, the fraudsters will require citizens to access a fake website to rebook tickets, aiming to collect personal data and commit fraud to seize assets...

On October 29, 2024, the Da Nang Police Department issued a warning to the public about new fraud schemes and advised the "3 no" principles for prevention. For instance, a new online fraud scheme has emerged, impersonating the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority to announce canceled flights.

Impersonators of the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority to commit fraud and seize assets

Accordingly, the fraudsters collect customer flight information and then create fake Facebook accounts impersonating the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority to call and message customers. They then announce that flights have been canceled and require citizens to access the fake website https://cuchangkhongvietnam.com/ to rebook tickets, aiming to collect personal data and commit fraud to seize assets.

In light of this situation, the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Da Nang Police Department advises citizens to remain vigilant when using social media platforms. Citizens should adhere to the "3 NO" principles: Do not provide personal information, bank account details, or credit card numbers via phone, message, or email - Do not click on payment links from messages or emails of unknown origin - Do not download apps of unknown origin to avoid personal information theft. When making online bill payments, citizens should directly access the official website or application of the service provider.

Bamboo Airways respectfully recommends that passengers remain vigilant against high-tech fraud schemes. If they notice any suspicious signs or discover they have been defrauded, passengers should immediately report to the nearest police station for assistance.
