Government Officially Approved Establishment of Bamboo Airways

On July 9, 2018, on behalf of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung officially approved the establishment of Bamboo Airways, after taking the proposal of the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the consensus of related ministries into consideration.

Previously, FLC Group and Bamboo Airways signed an agreement to purchase 24 A321 NEO aircraft from Airbus under the witness of General Secretary – President Nguyen Phu Trong in March 2018, and 20 aircraft Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner from Boeing under the witness of Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue in June 2018 to establish its fleet, in addition to leasing from other sources, preparing for the plan to take off its first commercial flights at the end of 2018.

According to Mr. Dang Tat Thang, General Director of Bamboo Airways, Bamboo Airways operates as a “Hybrid” airline, the combination of traditional and low-cost airline, aiming to provide a service that can meet a variety of different needs of every passenger segment.
