Bamboo Airways Has Officially Been Launched

After more than 4 years of extensive research and preparation, on August 18 at FLC Quy Nhon International Convention Center, Binh Dinh, the launch of Bamboo Airways was officially celebrated. It is expected that the Carrier will operate 37 domestic and international routes, offering air-passengers the whole new service experience.

The launch of Bamboo Airways was attended by Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Uong Chu Luu, leaders of Ministries and representatives of many domestic news agencies.

“After more than 4 years of extensive preparation and research on the existing models of airlines on the international aviation market, today, FLC Group is honored to introduce the new airline: Bamboo Airways,” – Mr. Trinh Van Quyet – Chairman of FLC Group announced the launch of the new Carrier.

Bamboo Airways was established when the policies to exploit tourism’s potentials were implemented with the aim of turning this industry into the key economic sector of Vietnam. Government has issued policies allowing the participation of private enterprises in the aviation industry. This is an important milestone for Bamboo Airways which will contribute to the Airline’s goal of realizing everybody’s dream of flying.

Speaking at this important event, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Uong Chu Luu emphasized: “Bamboo Airways is an airline that will offer a new experience for Vietnamese air passengers with good service and reasonable prices,”. He also expected that Bamboo Airways and other carriers would enhance regional linkage and connect domestic with overseas destinations, contributing to the development of the economy.

Bamboo Airways is headquartered in Phu Cat airport, Binh Dinh. The Chairman of the People’s Committee of the province Ha Quoc Dung said: “This is an event marking a vital milestone of not only FLC Group but also Binh Dinh and Vietnam’s aviation industry.” Binh Dinh expected from 2018, Bamboo Airways will create a favorable condition for the development of air transport, attracting employees, tourists, and investors to the province, promoting economic, socio-cultural development.

At the Launch Event, Bamboo Airways introduced the song “Bring the world closer” which is its official song composed by musician Huy Tuan. The Airline also introduced the uniforms for its flight attendants and pilots with 3 main colors representing its brand image.

The uniforms, designed by designer Cong Tri, received multiple compliments for their classy and bold design with a touch of Vietnam’s culture. Models of seats in the cabins were also on display during the event.

In the process of developing its resorts, FLC Group recognized the significance of the link of domestic and international destinations. Realizing the dream of flying has been the goal of FLC Group, motivating it to start an airline with a detailed plan.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Trinh Van Quyet said that the growth of the aviation industry will pave the way for Vietnam’s tourism to thrive, reaching the target of turning tourism into a key economic sector of Vietnam in year 2020, attracting 17-20 million international and 82 million domestic tourists, contributing to 10% of the country’s GDP.

Bamboo Airways is the first carrier in Vietnam to operate under the hybrid model, combining traditional and low-cost airline, aiming at a wide customer base.

Previously, Bamboo Airways had ordered 44 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing. On July 9, the Prime Minister also officially approved the launch of this airline. It is expected that Bamboo Airways’ first flight will take off in October this year.
