Introduction

Quang Binh is a coastal province in the North Central region located in the narrowest place in the East-West direction of the S-shaped Coumtry with charming landscapes. Its geography is narrow and sloping from the west to the east with 85% coverage of the natural hills: mountains, hills and midland, delta, coastal sands.

Its central location and wide variety of adventure activities and beautiful landscapes has made Quang Binh the newest hotspot on everyone’s travel plans. Quang Binh has postcard appeal, offering beautiful forests, sea and many other landscapes that are very famous, including: Ngang pass, Ly Hoa pass, Nhat Le seaport, Hac Hai, Cong Troi lagoon and Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.

Quang Binh is also located in a diversified biology area – where there is a diverse ecosystem of plants and animals from valuable and rare genes.

Weather

Quang Binh weather is featured the tropical monsoon with two distinct seasons:

  • Dry season lasts from April to August with an average temperature of 24oC – 25oC. But temperature is highest in June, July and August.
  • The rainy season starts from September to March of the following year. Annual rainfall is 2,000-2,300mm / year. Rainfall is concentrated in September, October and November.

The best time for you to visit Quang Binh is dry season from the beginning of April to the end of August.

How to get to Quang Binh

  • Train: it takes a long time if you move by this means. Especially, the trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Hoi Station takes about 20 hours, from Hanoi to Dong Hoi Railway Station takes about 8 hours. So you should depart in the evening to take rest more during a long way.
  • Bus: the trip from Ho Chi Minh City – Quang Binh takes about 40 hours, from Hanoi to Quang Binh takes 12 hours.
  • Aircraft: is considered the most convenient means to get to Quang Binh. You can easily find flights to Quang Binh from any airline including Bamboo Airways with many special promotions in a year get ready for your trip.

Must-visited sites

  • Phong Nha – Ke bang : is located about 50 km in the northwest from Dong Hoi city with mysterious and majestic landscapes, dry and floating caves resembling a wonderful painting of nature. Phong Nha – Ke Bang is recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage on July 5, 2003.
  • Nhat Le Beach : This is a must-visited beach when visiting Quang Binh, about 2 km in the northeast from Dong Hoi center featuring a romantic natural scenery with long sandy coastline, blue transparent sea reflected coconut rows.
  • Da Nhay Beach : is about 30 km away from Dong Hoi, which is located at the foot of Ly Hoa Pass with amazing beauty. This is also a beautiful and wilderness beach. Besides, Da Nhay Beach also attracts visitors with many stunning landscapes, amazing caves and a various sports such as boating, mountain climbing, hunting, scuba diving as well as you can enjoy fresh seafood.
  • Nuoc Mooc Stream : As a heritage of Quang Binh, Nuoc Mooc Stream possesses beautiful scenery as a fairy place with diverse fauna and flora, colorful insects featuring a lively and attractive Nuoc Mooc to visitors.
  • Vung Chua – Dao Yen :  is known as the funeral place of General Vo Nguyen Giap – the great general of Vietnam where Vietnamese people come to show their respect and gratitude to their beloved general.

Foods

  • Bánh bột lọc : are mainly made from fresh cassava and shrimp, pork, mushroom, green beans and other spices. And it is wrapped with banana leaves. All creates a salty and sweet aroma with an unforgettable feeling.
  • Cháo bánh canh : is a combination of shrimp, lean pork, Snakehead fish … The hot porridge is mixed with the slices of green vegetables featuring colors and fresh taste.
  • Bánh nậm : What you expect is the rice floor, with a bit of shrimp and pork meat being smashed so you can’t see the meat clearly. You can only ‘feel’ it when eating.
